The most famous ethos of William Morris was: "Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful" It is as relevant today as it ever was.

I love Maximalism but I hear you ask, what is Maximalism?

Maximalism is the art of more-is-more; layered patterning, beautiful colours, ample accessories and art (likely hung "salon-style"), and a real sense of playfulness and bold gestures. And who sums up this look better than the OG of pattern and colour himself, William Morris!

William Morris (24th March 1834 – 3rd October 1896) was a revolutionary force in Victorian Britain whose creative work dramatically changed the fashions and ideologies of the era. As a craftsman, designer, poet, printer, socialist, novelist, and environmentalist, Morris was not only influential in his own time, but his legacy remains alive and important today.
